More wooden boat building…

This 1940’s educational movie is just a little gem. A bit overly-romantic, but on the other hand it shows how much our society has changed over the last 70 years.

This is one of my favorites. I bought my first copy at the Essex Museum. It reminds me of all the documentaries my generation watched in the 50s and 60s in school. And yes, it’s romantic in the best possible manner– it reflects an America that is long lost, if we are nostalgic, or may never have existed at all, if we are more pragmatic–after all it is film. Ultimately, I love this film because it’s about boats, which after the female anatomy, are the sexist form in this temporal world.
