A toolshed in a museum…

I stole this little clip from Alex Holden. It combines some of the things I love: tools, museums, art and bringing people together to do/make something.

imageThe old chest featured in this clip is the “Benjamin Seaton Tool Chest” a great example to study. Its tools are in an absolute pristine condition, as they were almost never used. Some are even in their original packaging!

I can really relate to the notion that museums are places of weirdness and wonder.  A place to learn something new, to be inspired.

Guildhall Museum, which houses the chest invited artist Cathy Miles to create an art project around it. Working with and engaging others to make something themselves: art. I think that is the most important of all, to use inspiration from the past to make something new for now and the future.
