Sometimes the world is dark, full of war, hunger and hatred. It’s easy to become bitter.
In the last couple of days this song came to mind, over and over again. It’s the first in the Taizé songbook. The title is ‘Dans nos obscurités’; down in our deepest darknes…
“Dans nos obscurités,
alume le feu qui ne s’éteint jamais,
qui ne s’éteint jamais.” (x2)
“Within our darkest night,
you kindle the fire that never dies away,
that never dies away.” (x2)
Maybe that’s the only thing we can do. Try to bring a little light to a world in which people hate other people.
